Chair – Dave Newitt
Vice Chair – Position Vacant
Secretary – Position Vacant
Treasury – Stuart Wood outgoing
Safeguarding Officer – Natalie Taylor outgoing
Parent Representative – Position Vacant
Kit Manager - Doreen
Coaching Representative – Kelly Newitt
He introduced himself as chair, he has been involved in the club through his daughter playing for 5
years, and he shared his enthusiasm for youth sport as a means to bring team work, discipline and
enjoyment to young people and how good it is for the girls to be involved.
He introduced Kelly Newitt (coaches’ representative) and gave apologies for Stuart and Natalie and
mentioned both Stuart and Natalie were looking to step down this year, after serving in post for over
2 years. Michelle mentioned Natalie is keen to step down, now that her daughter will shortly be no
longer playing with the club.
Main points raised at previous AGM and actions which have happened or will happen: -
● We have several positions vacant on the Committee it would be good for parents to step
forward and help the club that is run by volunteers
Dave firstly mentioned that a vice chair position remains vacant and that this would be a great
position for someone to get involved and work with him in overseeing the club, Louise Fildes offered
to take on this position as she is currently working slightly less. She is undergoing some changes in
circumstance which could mean she has more time than normal to give to volunteering, and she
would like to get more involved. She has contacts with other clubs through longtime friends.
Kelly went through the other positions vacant, starting with –
Safeguarding Officer: essentially this role is to be point of contact for any safeguarding concerns
raised within the club. To look into the wellbeing and safety of the players at the club and report
any issues to the coaches representative and / or the chair. They also hold the register for DBS
checks of all volunteer coaches, and team managers, and for first aid and safeguarding training
Kelly went through the other roles which the club are looking for volunteer help with:
Treasurer: 2-4 hours a month paying invoices for sports hall rental, equipment, ball hall and
courses, and paying expenses reimbursements and coaching expenses. Documenting the annual
financial report and dealing with any refunds due. Kelly mentioned Stuart would stay on for a
transition but he recognised that it may be better if someone with more time took over
eventually.
Michelle mentioned that Kirsty Colclough mentioned she wishes to step down as the second
signatory on the financial transactions as her daughter will soon not be a member of the club.
Dave suggested, the second signatory was something he or Stuart could take on if we could find a
new volunteer to take on the treasurer role.
New Member contact: Cathy Zephir volunteered to take over this role from Lauren Sweeney and
will work with Lauren to handover the waiting lists and e-mail enquiries with the view to take the
role after Christmas
Social / Events secretary: Lisa Tague and Maria Slaymaker have expressed an interest to take this
on (although neither were able to make the meeting). They will initially take on the role of
organising the twice yearly events (Christmas and Summer).
Team Managers: Nancy Selkirk, Solange Martin, Louise McPeake, and Rebecca Gate have
volunteered to become new team managers for the second Storm Team.
Coaches / Assistant Coaches: Kelly mentioned we were always looking for new coaches to help
out and all sessions except the Stingers could be helped with extra coaches. Anyone interested
could come down to any session 5.30 – 7.00 Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays and help out to
try it out.
Chair Persons Report
Congratulations to all six teams. Kelly detailed the current standings of the teams / squads.
Falcons (year 11 coached by Clare Hughes on Tuesdays). They have 10 players and are in U17
premier division at Warrington Ball Hall and are currently in sixth position
Blizzard (year 10 coached by Lauren Sweeney on Tuesdays). The have 11 players and are sixth
position in Year 9/10 Stockport Division 1 . Blizzards were second (runners up) in the summer
season.
Cyclones Yellow (year 9 coached by Jennie Woods on Thursdays). They have 17 players but only
16 play at ball hall and no separate team manager. Jennie is both coach and team manager, so
they only have one team registered this season. However, they are in Warrington ball hall
division 3 Year 9&10 league and are in sixth position.
Cyclones Blue (year 8 coached by Kelly Newitt on Thursdays and team manager is Helen
Boardman). They have 11 players. They finished in third place in division 2 summer season, and
have been promoted to division 1 this winter season after a fantastic start to the season. They
have lost two, won 5 so far.
Storm (year 7 coached by Ange Hardman and Lauren Sweeney on a Monday). They currently
have 18 players. They won the league in the first season they entered Winter 2024. They have
just been promoted from division 3 to division 2 and perhaps will be promoted to the top league
alongside Cyclone Blues.
Stingers (year 6 coached by Anne Hughes, Sarah Thomas, Sarah Stafford and Louise Carter). They
currently have 19 players and every one of their original players has played at ball hall .They won
all their matches in the division they started in but have now moved up divisions and are facing
some closer games.
Other news from the club
● The club went on tour for a weekend, which was deemed a great success with multiple
age groups representing the club with lots of fun and great netballing skill.
● The club treated all teams for a Christmas Party at Altrincham Bowling Club on
December 13th 2025.
● It was explained that the Club is happy to grow with the support of more volunteers.
We still need the following roles fulfilled: Chair or Vice Chair, Secretary and Parent
Representative. If anyone is interested, the roles are listed, or you can help. The
volunteers make the club, and many hands make light work!
● The club is currently losing money but has a with a strong balance buffer. Decision
required to grow the club or increase the fees of the club which have been fixed for 7
years.
Treasurer Reports: Stuart Wood – Dave Newitt
Club made a loss of around 3,000 due to decrease in membership numbers and increase in
fees for Pitchero app, courses, equipment and leisure centre.
Opening balance was £20,337 and closing balance was £15,331 although there are still 25
membership subscriptions to come in so that will take the closing balance to £17,252
Dave explained that the members’ subs have remained the same for the last seven years.
Membership was 100 but is now down to 90 and only 65 have currently paid up to date.
Dave explained that it is written in the club’s constitution to ensure there is a buffer of
£10,000 to account for any unforeseen circumstances but re-iterated the importance of
balancing the ongoing expenditure.
With that in mind it was proposed by Stuart and put forward by Dave that if the
membership was raised to £90 a term, this would make up the shortfall and the club would
breakeven term on term.
The motion was put to the floor for discussion. Michelle stated she would be happy to pay
the extra and this was generally agreed with vocally. Mel Wright mentioned that
Northwhich charge £30 plus £5 match fees. Lauren was asked how much Wilmslow charge
and she replied £40 a month plus match fees on top.
It was mentioned that we ought to consider what other clubs charge in the area and Kelly
pointed out that it depends which club. The rugby club and the hockey club are both
cheaper than the netball club but the hockey club has no competitive matches and only an
hours training, and the rugby club has many more members due to more space and more
volunteers. Louise mentioned that the swimming club, Fuscia dance were more expensive.
Kelly mentioned that Egerton football club had higher fees and the SMB dance was over £30
a month.
It was therefore generally agreed that raising the cost of membership to £90 a term would
be acceptable. This would be equivalent to £270 a year or equal to around £25 a month
excluding the six week summer break.
The increase in fees would secure the club breaks even each year and would allow
confidence to release some of the excess in the buffer for investment into the club.
Whilst we have an excess in the buffer, this could be used to provide free places to families
who could not afford the membership costs and to purchase needed equipment (new bibs
and a gazeebo for tournaments – suggested by Angela Hardman in the AOB) and we could
use some of the excess in the buffer to invest back into our players by paying for them to
attend coaching and umpiring courses and first-aid courses.
The motion was passed by a large majority.
Nancy mentioned it was hard to work out the Pitchero system of payment for a first time
user and we discussed the idea of a document which explained how to register and log on to
both Pitchero and England Netball. Anne and the Stingers coaches have got a document
which they will pass on. We will use this going forward.
We also discussed the idea of using social media and reaching out to Primary Schools to
increase members. This would be a good thing for some of the older players to get involved
in, and we can oversee it with a parent proof reading before it is published.
Kelly brought up the wish to add a new training session on a Tuesday night after Christmas
when the older Falcon’s group will cease training. There are some parents interested that
could take over after being introduced to it by Lauren and Kelly. This would be for current
year 5’s.
The only issue with increasing presence of the club is that we are already struggling with
waiting lists and not enough space / coaches to accommodate the younger players who
wish to join the club so we need to get volunteers on board at same time as increasing
awareness of the clubs existence.

AOB. Angela Hardman mentioned that she would really like to have a club gazeebo for tournaments,
not only does it make us feel like a team but it helps protect the players from the elements.
Louise Carter mentioned the wish to start a group with her youngest daughter who I think is
currently in year 4 (possibly year 3). We will look to do this in September 2026.
Many thanks to all who attended.
